Latest Internet resources added to Intute: health and life sciences

MicrobLog is an eLearning manual and an online information resource for those studying or training in medical microbiology, virology and infectious diseases. This resource is compiled and edited by a Specialist Registrar in Medical Microbiology and Virology working in the UK. The resource covers antimicrobials, bacteriology, mycology, training events, virology, and the MRCPath Part 1. There are links to other educational resources and a discussion forum. This resource is a blog and registration is required in order to post comments.

The Patient-reported Health Instruments Group (PHIG), part of the National Centre for Health Outcomes Development (NCHOD), is funded by the Department of Health and is based at the Unit of Health-Care Epidemiology at the University of Oxford. Resources available via the PHIG website include a searchable bibliographic database of more than 8600 records relating to patient-reported health instruments, reports and publications including systematic reviews of outcome measures relevant to specific disease and demographic groups, general information on patient-reported health outcomes and instrument selection, the Oxford Orthopaedic scores and questionnaires, and links to related resources. Ongoing PHIG work includes 6-monthly updates of the bibliographic database and preparing further systematic reviews.

'Philosophy, Ethics, and Humanities in Medicine' is an open access, peer reviewed online journal addressing all aspects of the philosophy of medicine and biology, ethical aspects of clinical practice and research, and also publishing papers of contemporary relevance at the intersection of medicine and the humanities, including the history of medicine. Articles are searchable, and the full contents are published free online by BioMed Central.
